UC Davis police arrested a Sacramento man Thursday morning on suspicion of vehicle theft and possessing stolen property.
A detective was conducting a follow-up investigation into a recent rash of car burglaries in the West Village housing area when he spotted a man, later identified as 30-year-old Jeremy Humphries, possibly casing vehicles in a parking lot, campus spokesman Andy Fell said.
“The detective saw Humphries get into small sedan and rapidly flee the area. The detective followed the vehicle, which ran a red light,” Fell said. “A vehicle stop was made and further investigation revealed that Humphries was driving a stolen vehicle and was in possession of stolen property from the cities of Davis and Sacramento.
Humphries was taken into custody and booked into the Yolo County Jail.
