A Woodland man was arrested on reckless driving charges early Thursday after allegedly driving more than 120 mph on the outskirts of Davis, in plain view of a California Highway Patrol officer.
Officer Bryan Konvalin said an officer spotted the suspect’s Pontiac GTO exiting westbound Interstate 80 at County Road 32A at a high rate of speed at about 3 a.m. The driver reportedly ran a stop sign and continued down County Road 105 at high speeds, which Konvalin said prevented the officer from getting into position to make an enforcement stop.
The driver ran several more stop signs before yielding to officers at Roads 29 and 98, Konvalin said. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Christopher Donald Gerken, was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of reckless driving and possessing a billy club.
