The Davis and UC Davis fire departments have deployed strike teams to some of the state’s largest wildfires in recent days.
A captain and three firefighters accompanied a grass rig Monday to the Soberanes Fire in Monterey County, which as of this morning had burned more than 23,500 acres and was just 10-percent contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
On Sunday, a UCD fire crew and an assistant strike team leader from the Davis Fire Department departed for the Sand Fire in Santa Clarita, which has burned more than 37,700 acres and stands at 25-percent contained.
