Separate shooting incidents left two people under arrest and Woodland police looking for another suspect during the New Year’s holiday.

The ruckus began at 6 p.m. Monday, when police received reports of shots being fired at an occupied house in the 100 block of Muir Circle, Sgt. Victoria Danzl said. Officers arrived to find that one round that entered the home’s kitchen and two others had struck a car parked outside, but no injuries were reported.

No suspect descriptions or motives for the shooting were available as of Tuesday, Danzl said.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Elizabeth Way after residents of the area reported that two men were firing a shotgun and a handgun into the air, Woodland police Sgt. Aaron Delao said.

Police arrived to find numerous spent shell casings in a front yard and two people who matched witnesses’ descriptions. A shotgun also was found in a vehicle belonging to one of the men, Delao said.

Jed Tranquilino Flores Torres, 32, of Woodland, was arrested on suspicion of reckless discharge of a firearm and being a previously convicted felon possessing a firearm, both felony crimes, Delao said. The second man, 31-year-old Cesar Carabez of Sacramento, faces charges of being an accessory to a felony.

Both incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Woodland Police Department at 530-661-7800 or 530-666-2411.
