A tractor-trailer carrying 50,000 pounds of ice cream overturned on southbound Interstate 5 near Zamora on Friday afternoon, closing both southbound lanes for four hours and sending the driver to Woodland Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at 12:10 p.m. Friday after the driver, identified as Kebin D. Wofford, 49, of Orland, lost control of the truck after passing another tractor-trailer north of County Road 13.

The Highway Patrol reported that Wofford was traveling approximately 60 miles per hour while passing a tractor-trailer traveling in the slow lane, and as he attempted to move back into the slow lane himself, lost control, causing his truck to overturn.

The tractor-trailer, bound from Portland to Woodland, slid on its left side along the roadway and center median before coming to a stop at the County Road 13 off-ramp. Wofford suffered minor injuries and was transported to Woodland Memorial Hospital.

Both southbound lanes were closed until 4:20 p.m. and the accident remains under investigation.
