Pioneer Elementary School went on a temporary lockdown Tuesday afternoon after two students reported a suspicious person near the South Davis campus, police said.
Lt. Ton Phan said police received a call at about 1:45 p.m. reporting that the students had seen a man in a parked truck who appeared to be simulating a gun with his hand. They disclosed the incident to a teacher, which triggered the lockdown.
Officers responded to the school and contacted the man, who had been holding a school volunteer ID at the time and not simulating a weapon, Phan said. The lockdown was lifted at about 2:15 p.m. and students were released from school as regularly scheduled.
