Davis police detained a man on a mental-health hold Sunday night after he allegedly fired a gun inside his Seventh Street apartment.
Neighbors of the apartment in the 600 block of Seventh Street called police shortly after 10 p.m. to report hearing “a loud crack that sounded like a gun shot” followed by the sound of “someone yelling for help,” according to the Davis Police Department’s online call log.
Arriving officers contacted the man and “believed him to be emotionally disturbed and a danger to himself,” Lt. Art Camacho said. The man was placed on a mental-health hold, and officers seized several firearms from the apartment, all of which Camacho said were legally owned and stored.
No injuries were reported.
