WOODLAND — Two more suspects in a downtown Davis homicide appeared in Yolo Superior Court on Wednesday, their arraignments — like those of their three co-defendants — postponed until Monday while they seek legal representation.
Carlos Biviescas, 24, and Anthony Daniel Rivera, 25, both of Vacaville, told visiting Judge W. Arvid Johnson they need more time to retain private attorneys.
All five defendants — including Martyn Alex Contreras, 25; Zackary Thomas Sandeno, 21; and Victor Manuel Vergara, 22 — are scheduled to return to court at 1:30 p.m. Monday. In the meantime, they remain on no-bail holds at the Yolo County Jail.
They face charges of murder and participation in criminal street-gang activity in connection with the Sept. 19 stabbing death of Los Angeles resident Peter Alexander Gonzales, 23, during an altercation at the KetMoRee nightclub at Third and G streets.
Davis police have identified the suspects as members of a Vacaville-based Norteño street gang.
Biviescas also is charged with two case enhancements for two prior prison terms in 2011 and 2014, which he received for assault and drug-possession convictions in Solano County, court records show.
Investigators continue to search for a sixth suspect, 20-year-old Joseph Gregory Sandeno, for his alleged role in the fatal stabbing. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call Davis police at 530-747-5400.
