The number of suspects in the Sept. 19 homicide in downtown Davis, which police say was carried out by members of a Vacaville-based Norteño street gang, now stands at six.

Davis police announced the arrest of 25-year-old Anthony Daniel Rivera late Saturday night, just hours after a fifth suspect, Carlos Biviescas, 24, was taken into custody. Victor Manuel Acosta Vergara, 22, was apprehended Friday.

Vergara is scheduled to be arraigned today in Yolo Superior Court, while Biviescas’ and Rivera’s appearances are set for Wednesday.

They face murder and criminal street gang charges in connection with the stabbing death of Peter Alexander Gonzales, a 23-year-old Los Angeles man who came to the aid of his two brothers during an assault at the KetMoRee nightclub at Third and G streets.

Two other suspects, Martyn Alex Contreras, 25; and Zackary Thomas Sandeno, 21; were arrested in the days after the attack and are due back in court Oct. 5. Sandeno’s brother, 20-year-old Joseph Gregory Sandeno, also has been named a suspect and remains at large.
