A man attempted to kidnap a woman Sunday in the parking lot of the Westgate Shopping Center, 367 W. Main St. in Woodland, police report.
The 31-year-old victim was walking between cars when the door of a pickup truck parked in the row of vehicles shot open and the man inside attempted to apprehend her, pulling her toward the vehicle by her hair, she told police.
The Woodland woman screamed for help and a bystander approached the scene, then the man released her and fled in the pickup truck eastbound down West Main Street.
According to Woodland police, the suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his late 30s, with a large build, dark hair and a mustache, wearing a light blue-hooded sweatshirt, green sweat pants and no shoes. The vehicle was described as a white, compact, 1990s model pickup truck.
