A motorist lost his life in fiery crash south of Woodland early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Yolo County coroner’s officials still have not positively identified the driver of a 1999 Ford Explorer that ran off the road on westbound County Road 25A west of County Road 99 shortly after midnight.
Evidence at the scene indicated the vehicle made a hard left turn, then overcorrected to the right, causing the vehicle to rotate in a clockwise manner, the CHP reported.
The Explorer then ran off the north side of the road, struck a tree and became fully engulfed in flames, according to the CHP. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers continue to investigate whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
