Woodland police are investigating the shooting of a 17-year-old boy in front of his residence.
The department released few details about the incident, which occurred sometime Friday outside a home in the 1300 block of Colfax Drive. Sgt. Steve Sexton said in a news release that the teen had been in the front yard with friends and relatives “when an unknown suspect ran up on them and began firing a pistol.”
The boy was shot once in the chest, but the injury was not life-threatening, according to Sexton. He was taken by private vehicle to Woodland Memorial Hospital, then transferred to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, where his condition as of Saturday was unavailable.
No information about the suspect was disclosed. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call the Woodland Police Department at 530-661-7800.
