A Yolo County jury has convicted three people of criminal charges related to the near-fatal shooting of a man in West Sacramento last November — an incident that authorities say was gang-related.

Michael Anthony Reyes Jr., 25, faces 68 years to life in state prison after being found guilty Monday of attempted murder, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and multiple gang- and weapon-related enhancements, according to Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig.

Jurors also convicted two co-defendants, Lisa Humble, 22; and Liberty Landowski, 21; for being accessories to the crime with a gang enhancement, Reisig said. Both were acquitted of two other charged crimes.

Prosectors said the shooting victim and another man were riding their bicycles in a residential neighborhood on the morning of Nov. 18, 2014, when Reyes confronted the men — one of them a dropout Broderick Boys member and former drug dealer for the gang who had previously scuffled with Reyes’ stepfather.

“After the confrontation, Reyes waited until the victims had their backs turned and were riding away before he began shooting directly at one of the victims,” the DA’s Office reported. “Reyes shot a total of six times and hit one of the victims with three bullets,” one of which cut his aorta and became lodged in his lung.

Authorities said Landowski fled with Reyes in her vehicle after the shooting and that she and Humble later concealed the vehicle and rented a motel room for Reyes to hide from law enforcement.

All three defendants are scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 31 before Yolo Superior Court Judge Paul Richardson, who presided over the trial. Both women face anywhere from probation to seven years in prison.
