Investigating a possible hit-and-run incident near the Chevron station on Chiles Road, Davis police officers approached a damaged vehicle Friday evening. Upon speaking with driver Derrick Holloway, an 18-year-old from Oakland, officers noted that Holloway was acting strangely and patted him down. Officers discovered a loaded and concealed firearm, which had been reported as stolen from Georgia in 2010, Davis police said.
Holloway also attempted to give officers false identification, they said. Upon discovering his true identity, officers discovered that Holloway was a runaway from a “boys ranch”-style correction facility and was previously convicted of a felony, Sgt. Dan Powell said.
Halloway is currently housed in the Yolo County Jail. His warrant did not list when he was reported missing, where the facility was nor what the previous felony was, Powell said.
