Residents of a La Paloma Court home were temporarily displaced Monday after a fire raged through the attic of the South Davis home, Davis Fire Department Capt. Bobby Weist said. The 12:45 p.m. blaze, the cause of which remains under investigation, reportedly caught the attention of a passerby who became concerned that someone was trapped inside the house and broke a window to gain entry, saving the residents’ pet dog in the process. Weist said the fire destroyed the attic and caused extensive smoke damage to the rest of the home, but no injuries were reported. Total damage to the home was estimated at $100,000.
