The Esparto teen who died Friday night while on a driving lesson with his father was identified by Yolo County coroner’s officials Monday as Marcos Trujillo, 13.
California Highway Patrol investigators said the boy lost control of a 2005 Chevy he was driving on County Road 89 north of County Road 26. His father, who was in the passenger seat, attempted to take control of the vehicle, but it crashed into a drainage ditch and overturned onto its roof.
Marcos Trujillo was pronounced dead at the scene. His 37-year-old father was hospitalized with major injuries. Both had been wearing seat belts, the CHP reported.
