Davis police arrested a UC Davis doctoral student Wednesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman last month.
Ephrem Rukundo, 35, is suspected of assaulting the woman on the night of April 26 after she had fallen asleep at a party on Fourth Street, Lt. Tom Waltz said. She awoke during the alleged incident and, being familiar with the suspect, reported him to police.
The subsequent investigation led to Rukundo’s arrest at his home on a warrant charging him with oral copulation and penetration of a person who is unconscious or asleep, Waltz said. He was lodged at the Yolo County Jail.
