A shortage of available courtrooms resulted in the postponement of a high-profile trial this week in Yolo Superior Court.
Both of the court’s felony trial courtrooms were occupied with other cases, so Armando Arias Gonzalez Jr. will be tried next month instead of this week in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred in Davis last year, according to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office.
Gonzalez, 40, of Woodland, is accused of causing two crashes on East Covell Boulevard on Feb. 1, 2014, one of which killed an 85-year-old Vacaville woman. A Davis mother and daughter were hurt in the second collision.
Gonzalez, who reportedly suffered an epileptic seizure while driving, has pleaded not guilty to charges including second-degree murder, vehicular manslaughter and hit and run. His trial is now set to begin March 30.
