Although no charges have been filed yet, the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday a June 10 arraignment date for a St. James Church priest arrested last week on suspicion of statutory rape.
The Rev. Hector Coria, 45, was taken into custody Friday on charges that also included oral copulation with a minor. Davis police, who investigated the case, say Coria engaged in an unlawful sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl starting in late 2013.
Coria was lodged at the Yolo County Jail following his arrest but has since posted bail. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Sacramento has placed him on administrative leave.
