Davis firefighters responded to a first-alarm grass fire in North Davis early Tuesday morning, apparently caused by the torching of a stolen car.
The 1-acre fire caused an estimated $5,000 in damage to the area, comprising dry landscape plants at the edge of the draining ponds west of F Street and south of Anderson Road, said Bruce Fry, division chief for the Davis Fire Department. It was reported at about 3:50 a.m.
No injuries were reported, and the incident remains under investigation.
