A Folsom woman who authorities say exposed herself to young children in a Davis park while her companion recorded it has been ordered to stand trial on lewd conduct and child annoyance charges.
The charges filed against Wenyi Xu stem from a July 10, 2013, incident at Community Park, where a witness reported that 61-year-old Nicholas Robert Bowen of Grizzly Flats recorded video of Xu as she exposed herself to young boys who were bicycling past her.
Xu, 30, was held to answer on the charges by Yolo Superior Court Judge David Reed following a preliminary hearing that concluded on Friday. She is due back in court for arraignment on Feb. 21.
Both Xu and Bowen also face federal charges as a result of the incident after authorities reported finding child pornography on the pair’s cell phones as well as Bowen’s computer. An arrest warrant affidavit alleges that Xu took sexually explicit pictures of her own daughter and shared those and other images with Bowen.
The affidavit also says that Bowen and Xu took part in a similar indecent-exposure incident near a Folsom elementary school prior to coming to Davis. They were taken into custody here as they were returning to their car.
A pretrial hearing for Bowen, who remains in federal custody facing charges of sexual exploitation of minors and receipt and distribution of child pornography, is scheduled for April 16. Xu is free on bail.
Davis police said both Xu and Bowen were employed with state health agencies at the time of their arrests.
