WOODLAND — The case of a Davis woman accused of drowning her daughter will go to trial in early May, a Yolo Superior Court judge ruled Friday.
Judge Stephen Mock, who was assigned the Aquelin Crystal Talamantes case earlier this week, set aside about 10 court days for the trial, slated to begin on May 7.
Talamantes, 29, has pleaded not guilty to murder and child assault charges in connection with the Sept. 26 death of her daughter, 5-year-old Tatiana Garcia, who authorities say was drowned in the Glide Drive home Talamantes shared with her sister.
Authorities discovered the girl’s body in the trunk of Talamantes’ car, which the mother had driven from Davis to a relative’s apartment in Sacramento.
