A former Woodland city worker was sentenced to two months in county jail and three years of formal probation Tuesday for his role in the embezzlement of more than $36,000 from the Woodland City Employees Association.

Ronald Dean Scott, 55, of Woodland, also was ordered to refrain from harassing WCEA board members and officials, and is prohibited from possessing checks as part of his employment or any volunteer or elected positions, according to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office.

Scott, who was arrested in October, was accused of embezzling the money between 2009 and 2012 while serving as treasurer for the employee-funded WCEA. He had been employed as an engineering technician III for the city’s Community Development Department.

The case resolved in December when Scott pleaded no contest to a felony embezzlement charge.
