A robbery-turned-assault Saturday afternoon left one victim with a facial laceration, and Davis police are still searching for the suspects involved.

The incident began when a pair of Davis residents approached two male suspects who were stealing items out of their car about 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Sudwerk, 2001 Second St.

A struggle ensued when the owners of the vehicle attempted to take the property back, said Davis police Cpl. Michael Moore. One of the victims was struck on the head by an object during the fight, Moore said, before the suspects sped away with the stolen property.

The suspects — two men about 30 years old, one Hispanic, one white — were last seen driving eastbound on Second Street. Their vehicle is described as a newer-model single-cab Ford pickup truck with large black rims.

Firefighters arrived on scene to treat a cut that one of the victims suffered from the blow to his head. He was not hospitalized.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Davis police at 530-747-5400.
