A West Sacramento man was arrested on resisting charges Tuesday following a confrontation with a Yolo County sheriff’s deputy in Woodland, officials said.

The incident occurred at 11:45 a.m. at First and Court streets, where authorities said 34-year-old Arthur Lee Foster intentionally ran his bicycle into the deputy’s vehicle, then continued riding while ignoring the officer’s orders to stop.

The deputy followed Foster for several blocks to Lincoln Avenue, where Foster reportedly became agitated, picked up his bicycle and began approaching the deputy, who feared Foster was going to strike him with the bike and pulled his firearm in defense, sheriff’s spokesman Mark Persons said.

Foster put down the bike but refused further orders, and he was arrested on suspicion of resisting a peace officer and violating his parole, Persons said. No injuries were reported.
