A Sonoma man faces assault and resisting-arrest charges after allegedly struggling with Davis police officers Friday night.
Sgt. Dan Powell said officers received a call shortly before 9 p.m. of an intoxicated person yelling and kicking a sign in the 4800 block of Chiles Road in South Davis. When officers arrived on scene, the man allegedly attacked the officers, requiring them to use their batons to take him into custody.
William St. John Emis, 38, was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest, Powell said. The officers were not injured during the incident.
