WOODLAND — The conclusion of a preliminary hearing for a former UC Davis chemistry researcher was postponed Friday to Oct. 4.
The hearing will determine whether there is sufficient evidence for 32-year-old David Scott Snyder to stand trial on charges of keeping firearms and explosives-making materials in his campus apartment. He has pleaded not guilty.
Authorities discovered the illegal items after Snyder sought medical help for his left hand, which had been injured in a small explosion on the morning of Jan. 17. The 20-hour chemical removal process resulted in the evacuations of dozens of neighboring apartments.
Snyder’s attorney, Linda Parisi, was unavailable for Friday’s scheduled conclusion of the preliminary hearing, which began July 26, due to a medical issue.
