A 20-year-old Woodland man was jailed Sunday night after allegedly leading a California Highway Patrol officer on a high-speed pursuit.
CHP Officer Cindy Leal said Alejandro S. Leon caught the officer’s attention shortly after 9:30 p.m. while speeding near the Main Street offramp to northbound Highway 113 in Woodland. The officer attempted to stop the BMW, but Leon continued onto southbound Interstate 5.
“The officer got behind the vehicle and observed it reached speeds in excess of 100 mph while making lane changes,” Leal said, also noting that the BMW drove briefly on the right shoulder to pass another car before taking the County Road 102 offramp.
After nearly losing control of the car at a curve in the offramp, Leon stopped but allegedly refused to follow the officer’s commands, “and it was necessary for the officer to physically take control of Leon,” Leal said.
Leon was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of reckless evading and resisting an officer, according to Leal.
