Two vehicle accidents sent five people to Sutter Davis Hospital with minor injuries Monday, according to the Davis police and fire departments.
The first crash occurred at about 1:45 p.m. at the intersection of Villanova Drive and Anderson Road, where a northbound Honda broadsided a westbound Audi, sending the Honda into the southbound lane where it struck a Nissan, Davis police Lt. Glenn Glasgow said. All three drivers were hospitalized, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
A second collision occurred at 4:10 p.m. on West Covell Boulevard and F Street, where the driver of a vehicle lost consciousness, causing the car to roll backward and strike a minivan, Davis Fire Department spokeswoman Evelyn George said. Another driver who attempted to stop the vehicle from rolling suffered abrasions from being dragged by the moving car.
Both that person and the motorist who lost consciousness also were hospitalized, George said.
