A shelter-in-place order issued by Winters police in a residential neighborhood Thursday afternoon stemmed from a warrant being served by an outside law-enforcement agency.

The Winters Police Department announced on social media at about 3 p.m. that officers were on the scene of “an investigation” in the 400 block of Moody Slough Road, and that residents of that street and several surrounding roads should shelter in place. The order was lifted less than an hour later.

Winters Police Chief John Miller told The Davis Enterprise that Sacramento police served search and arrest warrants at the residence, and that local police stood by to facilitate local resources in case they were needed. He referred additional questions to the Sacramento Police Department, which could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday evening.
