The Yolo County District Attorney’s Office is investigating a reported incident of voter intimidation recently brought to the attention of the Yolo County Elections Office.

According to an Elections Office social media post, a voter received a note on their door that said, “If you are not a citizen, you are not allowed to vote.” The note was accompanied by a statement telling the voter to “complete a state voter registration cancellation form to return it to the county election office.”

The specific date of the alleged incident and the city in which it occurred were not disclosed.

“The victim in this case is an eligible voter and was shocked by this hostile voter suppression effort. The Yolo County Elections Office takes voter suppression and voter intimidation tactics very seriously and has contacted the District Attorney’s office to begin an investigation on this matter,” the social media post said.

Anyone who has experienced a similar incident is urged to contact the Yolo County Elections Office at 530-666-8133 or the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office at 530-666-8180.
