Yolo Superior Court officials posted a warning last week about a phone scam in which the suspects appear to be calling from the court’s phone system.
“The scam includes telling unsuspecting members of the public that they have a pending case, owe money or have a family member in jail that needs bail money,” officials said in a post on the court’s website. “The scammer eventually asks for money to be deposited into a specified bank account.”
Anyone who receives a call from someone identifying themselves as a court employee regarding fines, warrants or money owed are cautioned to not pay any money or provide personal information.
