Woodland police arrested an 18-year-old man on impaired driving and hit-and-run charges early Friday morning after he allegedly struck six parked cars.
According to Sgt. Victoria Danzl, officers were alerted at about 12:20 a.m. to an apparent under-the-influence driver who struck an occupied car near East Gum Avenue and Matmor Road. The driver, later identified as Mario Lopez, then fled the scene toward Farnham Avenue.
“Witnesses continued to update officers as to Mr. Lopez’s location,” Danzl said. “Mr. Lopez crashed into approximately five other vehicles along Farnham Avenue from Darby Court to Maxwell Avenue.”
At one point, the front right wheel assembly and control arm was sheared off of Lopez’s vehicle, but he kept driving until the car stopped at Farnham and Maxwell avenues, where officers took him into custody, Danzl said.
