About 200 people combed a Woodland neighborhood for more than two hours Thursday in search of a missing boy who, as it turned out, was napping inside his home the entire time, Woodland police said.
The 4-year-old’s family reported him missing shortly after 8 p.m. from his Yolano Drive residence, which relatives and officers searched multiple times without success, according to Sgt. Victoria Danzl.
“The family provided some information about two males claiming to be the child’s father and the details seemed strange as to how the child would have gone missing,” Danzl said. Police sent out reverse 911 information within a one-mile radius of the home and posted the child’s information on social media to seek the public’s help.
Patrol officers, including a tracking K-9, were joined in the search by an estimated 200 volunteers who searched the neighborhood by foot, bike and car until police ultimately found the boy safe and sound inside his own home, where he had fallen asleep under a table.
“The overwhelming community support working with us to find this child was truly amazing to witness,” Danzl said.
