Man injured in Woodland shooting

Woodland police are investigating a shooting that left a man injured early Sunday morning.

According to Sgt. Dallas Hyde, officers were dispatched shortly before 2:30 a.m. to check out reports of multiple gunshots being fired in the area of Bourn Drive and Paradise Valley Drive.

“As officers responded to the calls, an officer at the police department heard gunshots coming from East Street,” Hyde said. “Officers located a gunshot wound victim in the front parking lot of 565 East Street.”

Officers administered first aid to the victim, who was transported by ambulance to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento with what Hyde described as non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, Woodland officers requested crime scene assistance from the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol.

As officers investigated the Bourn Drive shooting scene, a vehicle caught their attention by circling through the area multiple times, Hyde said. Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop the vehicle and a pursuit ensued, ultimately ending in the arrests of two West Sacramento men.

“It has not been determined what role, if any, that they had in the shooting. A firearm was not located,” Hyde said. Anyone with information about the shooting incidents is urged to contact the Woodland Police Department crime tip line at 530-661-7851.
