The alleged burglar who caused an hours-long standoff with Davis police last week was taken into custody a second time only hours after his first arrest, the Woodland Police Department reported Friday.
Adison Mortenson, 30, caught the attention of police shortly after 1 a.m. on Aug. 29, when a patrol officer heard “suspicious noises” coming from a closed nail salon in the 1700 block of East Main Street, Sgt. Victoria Danzl said.
Police found Mortenson nearby and arrested him on suspicion of loitering and possessing burglary tools, Danzl said. Just the day before, Davis police arrested Mortenson after he allegedly broke into the Turning Point substance-abuse recovery center at Second and I streets and held officers, who believed he may have been armed, at bay for more than four hours.
That incident prompted police to cordon off the area surrounding the building, issue a citywide shelter-in-place advisory and summon the SWAT team as well as the Yolo County Bomb Squad.
Mortenson, who made his second trip to the Yolo County Jail in two days following the Woodland arrest, was no longer in custody as of Friday.
