A man reported being the victim of an attempted robbery this week at a South Davis park, police reported Thursday.
According to Lt. Art Camacho, the victim said he was walking through Walnut Park on Lillard Drive at about 11:50 p.m. Tuesday when “he was approached from behind by an unknown male and heard the racking sound of a handgun.”
“He was told to give up everything he had to the suspect,” who kicked the victim to the ground when the victim said he had nothing to give, Camacho said. The suspect reportedly made a second demand while pointing a silver handgun in the victim’s face, but still left empty-handed.
The suspect walked away southbound through the park, while the victim fled to his car, drove home and called police, Camacho said. He described the suspect as a white or Hispanic male, about 6 feet tall and 175 pounds, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and speaking in a “clear, calm voice.”
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Davis Police Department at 530-747-5400.
