Woodland police are investigating two shootings that occurred within a week’s time, the agency reported Friday.

The first occurred at about 11:40 p.m. July 3 in the 1600 block of Midway Drive, where witnesses reported that a suspect fired a shot into a residence before leaving the area on foot, Sgt. Dallas Hyde said.

“The preliminary investigation revealed the resident was inside his garage with his friends. An unknown adult male confronted them about lighting fireworks and shot one round into the garage of the residence,” Hyde said.

No suspect was found or identified, but the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Woodland police at 530-661-7800.

Shots were fired a second time shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, sending officers to the 900 block of Cottage Drive.

“Nobody was known to be injured and no homes were struck,” Hyde said. “A short time later, officers located what they believed to be the vehicle involved in the shooting.”

Hyde said officers detained the driver, whose name was not released, and the investigation remains in progress.
