Original story:

Evacuations were in progress Saturday evening as the Quail Fire southwest of Winters reached 500 acres in size with zero containment, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire).

About 100 structures were threatened and Pleasants Valley Road closed due to the vegetation fire, which Cal Fire officials say began at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the area of Pleasants Valley and Quail Canyon roads in Solano County. The cause remains under investigation.

Davis residents reported seeing large plumes of smoke from the fire, also visible from as far away as Sacramento. There were no immediate reports of injuries or structures lost.

Additional information will be added to this story as it becomes available. To view Cal Fire updates, visit its incident information website.
