A Woodland juvenile suspected of robbery allegedly led police on a high-speed pursuit, the Thursday afternoon incident resulting in the arrests of both the driver and passenger, police said.

In a Facebook post Friday, the Woodland Police Department reported that officers from its gang task force initiated a traffic stop at about 2 p.m. Thursday after locating the unidentified juvenile, who was a suspect in a prior armed robbery.

“The male refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit was initiated,” the post said. “The pursuit, which reached speeds up to 90 mph, left the city limits after several minutes on city streets.”

The chase continued onto southbound Interstate 5, where California Highway Patrol officers took over until the driver yielded at the Consumnes River Boulevard exit in south Sacramento, police said. Officers arrested the driver and his passenger, 20-year-old Holly Gaines of Woodland, and reported finding a loaded handgun, half-pound of marijuana and cash inside the car.

Police booked the juvenile into Yolo County Juvenile Hall on charges of robbery, criminal street-gang activity, felony evading and drug charges, while Gaines was lodged at the main jail on suspicion of conspiracy related to drug sales.
