Davis police made several arrests for burglary and possession of stolen property this week, solving several unrelated cases in which local residents and businesses allegedly had their belongings stolen.

A May 9 home burglary on Chestnut Lane resulted in a search warrant being served Monday at a home in the 1300 block of Nutmeg Lane, where 18-year-old Tyler Cinder was taken into custody after officers reported finding items allegedly stolen during the break-in, Lt. Art Camacho said.

Another burglary investigation commenced Monday after officers patrolling the downtown area at about 3 a.m. spotted a large broken window at Freewheeler Bicycle Center, 703 Second St., where a $1,600 bike was reported stolen from a display area.

“Based on our investigation, detectives served a search warrant at an apartment in Davis later that day. The bike was recovered,” the Davis Police Department reported in a Facebook post. Benjamin Lee Howe, 34, of Davis, was arrested Tuesday on burglary charges.

Stolen bicycles also were the subject of a three-month Davis police investigation that culminated Monday with the arrests of two people at The Arbors apartments, 1280 Olive Dr., according to Camacho.

“The Police Department received information about suspicious activity coinciding with illegal drug trafficking at that location,” Camacho said. While serving a search warrant Monday, police “retrieved property that had been previously stolen during several commercial burglaries in the city of Davis,” specifically several high-end bikes.

Erik Bryon Scott, 33, was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property and drug-related offenses, Camacho said. A second person inside the apartment, 21-year-old Karina Blair Monterrubio, faces drug-related charges as well.

Monterrubio was released from custody on a citation, while the others were booked into the Yolo County Jail, according to the Police Department’s online arrest log.
