A solo crash claimed the life of a motorcyclist Tuesday morning near the Capay Valley town of Guinda, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victim died at the scene of the crash, which occurred at about 11 a.m. on westbound Highway 16 east of County Road 57, CHP Officer Rodney Fitzhugh said.
“The solo occupant, the driver, left the roadway and collided with a tree,” Fitzhugh said in a news release. Yolo County coroner’s officials identified the victim Wednesday as Andrew Hoffert, 61, of Lucerne in Lake County.
Fitzhugh said it’s unknown whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the CHP’s Woodland-area office at 530-662-4685.
