A 20-year-old man was shot in the leg Tuesday night in the latest in a rash of shootings in Woodland, police said.

According to Sgt. Dallas Hyde, officers responded at about 9:30 p.m. to reports of shots fired in the 400 block of North Street.

“Officers contacted one victim who had a gunshot wound to his leg. Several others were observed running into a nearby apartment,” Hyde said. “The occupants of the apartment were called out of the apartment and eventually came out. At this time their role in the incident has yet to be determined as most were uncooperative.”

The victim, a Lodi resident, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injury, which Hyde said was not life-threatening. No suspects have been identified and the motive remains under investigation.

Last week, another man reported being shot at — but not injured — in a Friday night shooting incident.

The investigation, which is ongoing, began at about 10:30 p.m. when dispatchers received multiple reports of shots fired in the areas of Armfield Avenue and East Street, as well as Yolano Drive and Donnelly Circle to the north, followed by a vehicle fleeing eastbound from Yolano, according to Sgt. Dallas Hyde.

“Officers checked the area and located witnesses in the Yolano/Donnelly area who had heard several gunshots in the area,” Hyde said. “It was discovered that a parked, unoccupied truck had been hit with rounds as well as a building.”

Although no victims were located at the time, a man called police about an hour and a half later “stating he had been in a vehicle at the scene and he had been shot at,” Hyde added.

Anyone with information about either of these sincidents is asked to contact the Woodland Police Department at 530-666-2411.
