A pair of crashes on the Yolo Causeway east of Davis injured three people Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officer Rodney Fitzhugh said reports of the crashes on eastbound Interstate 80 east of the Webster interchange came in shortly before 10:15 p.m., leading responding officers to discover that two crashes had occurred in the area.
“The first collision was a property damage-only collision involving a Ford and a Nissan. Following the collision, the driver of the Ford exited the vehicle, which was left blocking the eastbound traffic lanes,” Fitzhugh said. “Several minutes later, a Mazda traveling eastbound in the number-two lane collided with the Ford.”
That second crash caused major injuries to the driver, a 27-year-old Davis man, who was transported to the UC Davis Medical Center for treatment, Fitzhugh said. Two others who were in the Ford were hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to be factors in the collisions, Fitzhugh said. Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to contact the Woodland CHP office at 530-662-4685.
