A fight among coworkers ended with a Davis man’s arrest on assault charges Saturday, Davis police said.
Officers were summoned at about 2:20 to the Quick Shop Market, 1900 E St., where the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Jesse Chuy Rodriguez, and a coworker got into a verbal argument that ultimately escalated when Rodriguez challenged the other man to physically fight, Davis police Lt. Art Camacho said.
“After the victim attempted to ignore Rodriguez, Rodriguez is alleged to have drawn a knife and attempted the stab the victim unsuccessfully multiple times,” Camacho said. “The victim fled the scene on foot with Rodriguez allegedly giving chase,” fleeing the scene after reportedly taking a set of keys the victim had dropped.
Police arrested Rodriguez later that day and booked him into the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Camacho said. No injuries were reported.
