A man suffered life-threatening injuries Friday night in a Woodland shooting — the city’s third in less than a month.

Woodland police Sgt. Dallas Hyde said a resident of Merritt Circle reported hearing shots fired “in the distance” at about 11:15 p.m., and an adult male victim arrived at the Woodland Memorial Hospital emergency room about 10 minutes later with multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was transported by ambulance to Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael due to the severity of his injuries. Hyde had no further details about his condition as of Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, investigating officers determined the shooting occurred in the 1600 block of Tide Court, a location off Pioneer Avenue about a mile north of where the shooting report was made.

“At this time there have been no suspect or motive identified for the shooting,” Hyde said, adding that the incident remains under investigation.

Police also continue to seek information about a pair of shootings that occurred in October — one on Halloween night at North and West streets that left a man with minor injuries, and another on Oct. 21 at North and East streets that killed 16-year-old Alvaro Gamera of Esparto and injured two other men.

A suspect was later arrested in connection with the homicide, but the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office declined to file charges in the case pending further investigation. Anyone with information about any of these cases is urged to call the Woodland Police Department at 530-666-2411.
