A month-long investigation into a sexual-battery report led to the arrest Wednesday of a 27-year-old Davis man, according to the Davis Police Department.

Seyyed Ehsun “Taba” Tabatabaifar was booked into the Yolo County jail on felony battery and false imprisonment charges, which Lt. Art Camacho said stemmed from an alleged incident that occurred on July 26 at a local apartment.

Camacho said that after becoming acquainted with the female victim, Tabatabaifar met the woman and her friend at the friend’s apartment, and they had planned to go as a group to a local bar.

“During this visit, and in the presence of the common friend, Tabatabaifar is suspected of suddenly, and without warning, restraining the victim from behind by essentially bear-hugging her,” Camacho said in a news release. “Tabatabaifar is further suspected of sexually battering the victim while holding her against her will.”

Camacho said both women used physical force to fight off Tabatabaifar, who fled on foot as the victim escaped to a nearby room. Police were called to the scene and launched an investigation.

Anyone with additional information about this case is encouraged to contact the Davis Police Department investigations unit at 530-747-5400.
