WOODLAND — A Sacramento man accused of damaging a woman’s car during a Picnic Day street gathering pleaded no contest Thursday to felony vandalism.

Erick William Davies, 22, is expected to be sentenced to three years of probation in exchange for the plea and will have a misdemeanor count of inciting a riot dismissed. He also must pay $1,700 in restitution and write a letter of apology to the victim.

Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 30 before Yolo Superior Court Judge Janene Beronio.

According to testimony from his October preliminary hearing, Davies was among a large crowd of people who had gathered at East Eighth and M streets on the night of April 22 as several motorists attempted to drive through the area.

When a woman honked her horn to move along the crowd, Davies reportedly jumped onto the hood of her Honda Civic and jumped up and down while others in the crowd rocked the vehicle back and forth and pounded on the windows. The car sustained an estimated $7,000 in damage.

A video of the incident later appeared on social media under Davies’ “King Deezy” Twitter handle, which led to his identification as the suspect in the case, Davis police testified.

Davies, who has no prior criminal record, faces up to three years in county jail if he violates the terms of his probation.
