The Davis Police Department issued an alert Tuesday about an uptick in car burglaries in recent months.
The increase began in July, with the hardest-hit areas being along the Richards Boulevard corridor between Cowell Boulevard and the downtown area, including the In-N-Out Burger and Boy Scout parking lots.
Police advise not leaving property in plain sight inside vehicles, as burglars are smashing windows to take items left out in view such as backpacks, laptops, books and personal documents.
Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call the Police Department at 530-747-5400.
