An American Canyon man faces drunken-driving and hit-and-run charges after allegedly walking away from a crash scene Sunday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.
Officer Bryan Konvalin said 28-year-old Joseph James Wade IV lost control of his Infinity I30 at about 1:15 a.m. as he approached slower-moving traffic on eastbound Highway 50 near Harbor Boulevard. He veered to the left to avoid a collision, then veered back to the right, crossing all lanes of traffic before running off the road and striking a tree.
Wade was able to exit the vehicle, which had rolled over, and was contacted by officers about a fifth of a mile from the crash scene, Konvalin said. A DUI evaluation revealed he allegedly was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred.
Officers arrested Wade on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run, then released him to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento for treatment of lacerations he sustained in the crash, Konvalin said.
